The Pod Ultra

I originally bought the Ultra Pro just for my retainer, but I actually use the top insert almost as much. I can put my electric toothbrush head in while I’m cleaning my retainer, which makes the whole thing feel way more useful than a single-purpose cleaner. I like being able to run the ultrasonic cleaning and UV care without having another device sitting on my counter. It’s become part of my morning routine because I can basically take care of both at the same time.

I’ve been using the Ultra Pro for my retainer and it’s honestly made cleaning it way more convenient. Before this I was mostly brushing it by hand, which was annoying and I never really felt like I was getting into all the little grooves. Now I just add water, put my retainer in, choose a cleaning cycle, and let it run. It’s surprisingly quiet too, so I usually have it going while I’m getting ready in the morning. It’s one of those small things that has made my daily routine much easier.

Quick tip if your retainer already has a lot of buildup before getting the Ultra Pro: I had much better results when I used my regular retainer-cleaning tablet together with the ultrasonic cycle. Mine had buildup from before I bought the machine, so water alone wasn’t instantly getting everything off. Combining the two made the cleaning process way easier for me. Now that I’ve gotten it much cleaner, I mostly use the Ultra Pro regularly so I’m not letting it get back to the condition it was in before.

One feature I didn’t think I’d care about was the toothbrush-head holder on top, but it’s probably one of my favorite parts now. I use the Ultra Pro for my night guard and put my toothbrush head in the top insert at the same time. It’s just really convenient having one device that can handle more than one thing instead of buying separate cleaners. The machine is also compact enough that I leave it beside my sink and actually remember to use it every day.

I had a cheaper ultrasonic cleaner before this and eventually stopped using it because the unit felt flimsy and would get warmer than I was comfortable with. The Ultra Pro feels much more thought-out and solid in comparison. I especially like having different cycle lengths instead of just one button that does the same thing every time. I’ve been using it regularly for my retainer and so far it’s been simple, quiet, and consistent. Definitely feels like an upgrade from the inexpensive cleaner I had before.

I mainly like it because my retainer comes out with that fresh feeling afterward. Most days I still keep things simple, but it’s nice having the option when I want it. The actual machine is extremely easy to use too—I put everything in, choose the cycle, and leave it running while I brush my teeth and get ready.

I tried adding one of the retainer-cleaning tablets I already had and running a cycle, and that combination worked much better for mine. I’d definitely recommend dealing with old buildup first and then using the cleaner consistently instead of waiting until it gets bad again.
